Introduction to my work

Mythology and folklore has always been a main inspiration for me. In the overpopulated city life of today these ancient symbols still seem very relevant. It is this combination of the timeless and the daily life of the time we live in which makes it interesting.
Something I aim for is to create a bridge which connects people with their environment. And to connect the mental with the material world. The last years I’ve been touched by the animistic mythology of Eskimo’s. To me these stories often seem pretty absurd and far away from todays moral. All animals, people and materials have a soul and are connected with each other. There isn’t any particular moral reason why things became the way they are. Things are just there because they are there. This may seem confusing sometimes. Confusion brought by absurdism and paradox is a weapon I like to use to loosen up our rusty brains.

Introductie in mijn werk
